~*~All the little details of the last 17 months~*~

I
was in girl guides { I don't know if you know what that is, but we meet once a week and go camping and lots of fun and stuff} and that weekend we were going to go camping. That whole week I was really excited for camp because it was going to be alot of fun. I was having a tiny fight with my friend but within like 10 minutes of being at camp we completely forget about it. Friday my friend and I went up, eat McDonalds on the way *Bad decision cause it's gross:P* and then arrived at camp. We were running the camp so we had to work REALLY hard but it was good hard and really fun because we were working to make sure everyone was having fun. That night we were up until like 3/4 ish because we had to get everything ready for Saturday. We had to pitch a tent at like 3 in the morning because noone listened to me when I said we weren't all going to fit in one tent but it was...well we'll call it interesting:P Friday night I woke up really early and took some medication and went back to sleep. I felt mostly okay all saturday during the day time but as the day went on I started feeling worse and worse. I didn't tell anyone because I don't like complaining and having attention put on me but by the time we had dinner I felt like I was going to throw up and had a REALLY bad headache and a high fever. I was sent to bed and was taken care of by one of the leaders. That night I didn't feel very good {and had to pee alot because I was drinking a heck of alot} and Sunday morning I still had the fever/headache and didn't feel good at all.
Monday, Tuesday and Wenesday after camp I didn't go to school because I was still really sick.
At the end of April I went to my family doctor because I was very confused to why I still had a headache. My doctor took blood and did a couple tests and told me to phone in in a couple a couple days. The tests shows that I didn't have cancer or a tumer or anything like that but he sent me too a neurologist anyways. He also told me to get my eyes checked because sometimes that can cause a headache. I went to the eye doctors and he told me that my eyes were fine.
About 2 months later I had my appointment with the neurologist and she had absolutly no clue what was wrong with me{Scary thought eh?}. She sent me to get an MRI just to make sure that there wasn't anything there, thankfully there wasn't. After the MRI came back and she had a chance to look at it, she sent me to a neuro surgeon at the Hospital for Sick children in Toronto Ontario {I don't know if you know of it but it's an AMAZING hospital just for children 0-18 years old}. He said that I had a slight case of tonsilar ectopia {Every one has tonsils in the back of thier head that hand on both sids of the spinal cord and like throat tonsils, they do preety much nothing but in some people, the tonsils can stretch or be really big which isn't good. It is possible for the tonsils to wrap around the cord which causes alot of damage}. My tonsils were 4-6 mm to long which isn't to bad and aren't likely to wrap around my cord. He decided that because the MRI was only on my brain, he wanted an MRI of my spinal cord too.
SO...another monthish went by and I was back at the hospital to get another MRI. After 2 hours of lying in a tube...again NOTHING!
And so back to my neurologist I went. She gave me a grand total of 5 different drugs to try and again...nothing worked.
She decided to send me to another Neurologist at SickKids hospital. He did a whole bunch of tests and then gave me a couple of different drugs. None of them worked and so he decided to give me a choice.
I could either stop everything and just live with it or do a round of Botox therapy. Botox is the same stuff that gets rid of wrinkles but for pain, it can be used to temporarily paralyze the pain receptors and make the headaches either completly disapear or get at least some relief. This wasn't a hard decision for me beacuse at that time I had already had the headache for 9 months and truely thought it would work. I had to have another set of blood test before I got the Botox to make sure there was nothing {else} wrong with me. I was at the hospital in the morning and by the afternoon I was done. I got 65 injections of botox in my head and neck/shoulder area.
A week and a half after I got the botox I got the worst headache I had ever had in my entire life. It was about 10 o'clock at night and suddenly my head felt like it was going to EXPLODE. I was freacking out and was --> <-- this close to going to the emergency room because I didn't know what was wrong. I sucked it up because everyone was asleep and I didn't want to wake them so all night I lyed in my bed in excrusiating pain and just sucked it up with my teddy bear by my side.
That must have been monday because on Friday I was back at SickKids because I was scared as to what it was. My neurologist {not the first one the seconde one...Okay know what...his name is Dr.Gladstone} Dr.Gladstone and he said that what it was was a headache that had broken through and so I had two headaches at once {which was weired to understand but true} and that he wanted to make sure there wasn't anything "developing" in my head so I was sent of another MRI.
This time, It was on the fluid between you brain and your skull. The liquid keeps you brain safe. It's kinda like the white part in an egg that keeps the yolk safe. Well if the pressure of the liquid is to strong or too weak it can cause problems. So there I was having my third MRI. Halfway through the MRI I was taken out of the machine because I had to get an injection of dye to enhance the photos. I was given 7 needles in my right hand. Then the MRI was completed.
The analyst said that it was "An amazing study" and that it was "perfectly normal"...JOY!
By then I was getting really frustrated.
It was time for another visit to the hospital and my doctor said that he wanted me to see a Social worker. Not like a normal Social Worker. She specialized in comgnative therapy and dealing with illnesses. I've been to see her 4 times now. It's really hard because what we are doing isn't "normal" western world things. What we are doing is like relaxation techniques and different ways to cope with my headache but my mom doesn't believe in it. She thinks that everything can be fixed with medication. I use to think like that too but not anymore.

I worte this many months ago so it isn't up to date at all...
